Gender pay gap report

Person responsible for our Gender Pay Gap reporting:

Mr Nigel Wright, Managing Director, Kennelpak Ltd, Palmer Drive, Stapleford, Nottingham, NG9 7BW.

Our written statement:
We have to report certain calculations regarding our Gender Pay Gap at the “snapshot date” of 5th April 2025. The figures reported are a true and accurate representation at this date.

What we calculated:
The MEAN hourly rate is the average hourly wage earned across the entire organisation. The mean gender hourly pay gap is a measure of the difference between women’s mean hourly wage and men’s mean hourly wage.

The MEDIAN hourly rate is calculated by ranking all colleagues highest to lowest paid and taking the hourly wage of the person in the middle, so the MEDIAN gender pay gap is the difference between the women’s median hourly wage (the middle-paid women) and men’s median hourly wage (the middle-paid man).

What this tells us:

Women’s MEAN hourly rate in our Organisation is -0.6% higher than men’s. In other words when comparing the mean hourly rates women earn £1.006 for every £1.00 that men earn.

This is a change of 22.1 percentage points versus our performance on the snapshot date in 2024. This meaningful change is driven by the sale of the retail arm, Pets & Friends, in 2024; as the majority of retail roles, often part time and lower paid, were occupied by women. Furthermore, our Senior Leadership Team consists of 6 colleagues and is comprised of 3 men and 3 women; with the Senior Leadership Team being the higher earners in the business which is having an impact. The gender split of the Senior Leadership Team is reflective of the company’s gender make-up. Work continues to ensure we deliver further improvements.

Women’s MEDIAN hourly rate is -6.0% higher than men. In other words when comparing median hourly rates women earn £1.06 for every £1.00 men earn.

This is a change of 9.6 percentage points vs the snapshot date in 2024.

About our Organisation: Percentage of Women and Men employed by quartile:

Top Quartile: Women 53.3% / Men 46.7%
Upper Middle Quartile: Women 62.5% / Men 37.5%
Lower Middle Quartile: Women 46.7% / Men 53.3%
Bottom Quartile: Women 40.0% / Men 60.0%

Bonus Pay Gap:

Our Mean Bonus Pay Gap is -18.3% higher for Women than Men. This is a difference of 76.0 percentage points versus the snapshot date in 2024. This is predominantly due to the sale of Pets & Friends, as mentioned above, which included the successful TUPE of over 200 colleagues to another employer. All Kennelpak colleagues are part of a companywide bonus scheme.

Our Median Bonus Pay Gap is -30.7% higher for women than men, a swing of 70.7 percentage points versus the snapshot in 2024. For context 91.8% of all colleagues received a bonus. This is an increase of 32.7% vs the 2024 snapshot. Of the 91.8% who received a bonus 90.3% of all women, and 93.3% of all men received a bonus payment in the financial year up to the snapshot date.
